German Lessons in Edinburgh

Though the majority of German native speakers live in Germany, the language is an official one in another four countries: Switzerland, Austria, Luxembourg and Liechtenstein. Furthermore, it is a native language in Northern Italy. And did you know that is one of the most-spoken languages in Europe, with more than 90 million speakers? To be proficient in German, then, is an asset you shouldn’t ignore. For instance, there are dozens of companies in Edinburgh who are always looking for German speakers to add to their teams, like HyperDigital, Agoda & Ingredients or Schuh. Contact us at Listen & Learn and we will help you strengthen your CV and increase your chances of landing a bilingual job in Edinburgh by becoming proficient in German.

German is infamous for being a difficult language to acquire, but this is an unfair and unwarranted reputation that shouldn’t scare you! For example, it’s much easier to pronounce words phonetically in German than in English. The grammar rules are far more consistent too, and there are far fewer exceptions as in English (e.g. words like blood, good and door are a nightmare for English language students because they are all spelled similarly but pronounced differently). Furthermore, you’ll be able to become proficient very quickly, as there are countless opportunities for you to practise your German in the city. For instance, you can join the Edinburgh German Meetup and test your skills with other students and native speakers.

So, if you can’t get enough of gripping German TV series, like Dark, and want to watch it without dubbing (or better still, without English subtitles), then contact us and we will prepare a personalised course for you to acquire the language in an interactive, fun way. Make your German-learning anxiety a thing of the past!

Typical students have been those eager to travel all over the world, those buying overseas property, those with foreign spouses, aficionados of German culture and those who just wish to pass a particular German exam.
