The French were world leaders in the film industry and probably still are in some people‘s eyes. I have tried to watch a few Gallic movies but I really think that you need to understand the lingo to get the gist of it. There are quite a few classic books in the language as well, so you will find that you have plenty of ways to use your new knowledge while expanding your mind. The Portuguese are an adventurous lot, aren’t they? At school I loved reading about how they explored the world and I must admit to still having a soft spot for them after all these years. It is only when you look at a map and see how widespread the Portuguese language is that you can see how they were true globe trotters. The places where this tongue is spoken include the likes of Brazil, Angola, Macau and East Timor. Wouldn’t it be great to do a round the world trip taking in all of the places where it is spoken?
