Where in South America is Best to Take Spanish Classes? (Part I)
I took my Spanish lessons in Quito in Ecuador and really enjoyed the experience. However, I met a lot of other gringos on my travels who had learned in other cities, so I decided to have a think about which place is best to learn the language here. Here are three cities I have been to and which are recommended for Spanish language newcomers.
Quito, Ecuador
This city will always have a special place in my heart as it is the first place where I ever ate empanadas and saw people wearing ponchos without getting paid to do it. It is also likely to be the only place in the world where I ever see an egg balancing on top of a nail and water going straight down the plughole. Anyway, it isn’t the biggest city in the world and since dolarización it is reasonably expensive. If you want a laid back atmosphere, a pretty neutral accent and crazy balancing eggs then you can’t go far wrong with Spanish course in Quito.
