Learn Spanish and Something Else Too (part II)
How to Carry Weight on My Back
I remember spending weeks agonising over my choice of backpack. I wanted one which was not too big and not too small, not too bright and not too dark. In the end I made a decent choice but the first time I strapped the blooming thing I couldn’t even stand up. As I got used to it I began to find techniques for moving around with it on and it soon became something I didn’t even notice. If you are going to learn Spanish in South America then I can thoroughly recommend bringing one which is big enough to fit in all the things you will want to take home with you.
How to Live a Slower Life
One of the great things about life here is that everything is a bit slower and involves speaking to more people. For example, if you want to make a reasonably complicated meal then instead of going to the supermarket you will probably need to go to the local market and a number of different shops. This will involve speaking to a lot of people and could take a couple of hours from your day. There is no use rushing things like this, you just need to make them happen the way everyone else does.
