Don’t Study Spanish Abroad Without This (part I)
Going to South America to take Spanish courses is a fantastic idea but won’t you miss something from back home? I have to confess that I didn’t really find myself missing that many things when I got here, but there are a few ideas to get you started on packing your bags.
A Radio That Gets You BBC World Service
I mentioned before how difficult it is to listen to the radio in a foreign language, and sometimes after some Spanish classes all I wanted was to be able to listen to something in English. Actually, I remember when we were staying in a remote town in Ecuador there was a big football match on in the UK and we took it in turns to go up to the roof and hang off the edge to try and get a decent reception. It didn’t work but I found later on my team had lost anyway, so there was no harm done.
