I have a Spanish native speaking uncle whom I love listening to. He uses words which I have never even heard used before and I am sure that a lot of native speakers never use some of them either. I have picked up some excellent words off him but I have also done the same by watching impressive television presenters and – I’ll admit it – politicians. Once you have reached a decent level with the tongue these people can help you move onto the next level. Of course, if you study with Listen & Learn you will learn from a clever native speaker. Watch TV Game Shows 

I used to hate TV game shows but they can be a language student’s best friend. You can learn a lot of new words and cultural facts this way. At first it can be hard to get a grasp on what some of the shows are about but these days you will find a lot of the same shows in a local format all over the world. For example, once you take Portuguese lessons you can enjoy shows like Who Wants to be a Millionaire in your new language.
