Where Will You Go to Speak Like a Local? (Part II)
Not Forbidden in Beijing
Doesn’t Beijing just look like the most exciting city? It is one of those places which I feel as though I already know without actually knowing that much about it, if you know what I mean. Anyway, with the right Chinese lessons London residents can live out my dream of wandering into the Forbidden City and mixing with the locals. I think it is probably one of the languages in the world which I know least words in, despite having a couple of Chinese friends and having spoken to many more people from there. Maybe it is time to learn some more and move a step closer to fulfilling my dream.
Hearing Irish in Moscow
The image of The Red Square is for me one of the most stunningly exotic in the world. It is one of those places which I can’t even imagine myself standing in. Of course, my possibilities would improve greatly if I took some of the Russian lessons Dublin offers. I have never heard anyone speaking Russian with a strong Irish accent and if I was standing in The Red Square and heard someone speak like this it would really be the icing on the cake for me.
