ABOUT JAPANESE FACTS
Nouns in Japanese have no grammatical gender or number. For example, the noun 'hon' means book; but could refer to one book or many books
The Japanese language lack a few letter sounds that most western languages take for granted: for example, in Japanese there is no 'l' sound (their 'r' sound is used instead), and no 'v' ('b' replaces it)
Unlike most western languages, Japanese has a grammatical system to express formality and politeness - the differences between honorific and humble speech is particularly pronounced
